Friday Night Lights has been renewed for not one but two seasons!

SQUEE!!! I was so ready for this show to end, but two more years! I hope the quality keeps up. Season 3 was sooo good. Oh man, I'm ridiculously happy right now.
thatgirlteresa: (FNL: Matty and Smash)
It bothered me that in this season of FNL Tim, Tyra, and Lyla were all just becoming seniors. I totally understand why this was done from a story-telling aspect, but the people who made this decision really should have thought about the ramifications.

Tyra just said that she is seventeen years-old. Thus, two years ago in season one, Tyra was FIFTEEN. Two years ago, Tyra also slept with a dude named Connor. A dude who was an adult from California that worked for the oil company. So he was what? At least 25 years-old. That's really icky.

I mean, I'm glad to have another year of those three, but c'mon. It's ridiculous to expect your viewers to accept the fact that Tim, Tyra, and Lyla were only sophomores during season one.

Matt and Julie SQUEEEEE!

Coach and Mrs. Coach at the dance squee!!!

Tim and Lyla are gonna have some cute babies!

JD McCoy.... I like him. Not so much his papa.

And Street.Oh Street, I'm a gonna miss you.
thatgirlteresa: (FNL)
Matt Saracen had me bawling even before the credits started rolling...
thatgirlteresa: (FNL)
*sob*

Oh Smash!

Coach!

Matt!

Tami!

Mama Smash!

Julie!

Landry!

Tyra!

Did I mention Smash!?

I haven't cried this hard in a looong time.

Such an amazing episode. I know that I feel this way every week this season, but my show is back, y'all. My show is back with a vengeance.
thatgirlteresa: (FNL)
I am so completely back to being head-over-heels for FNL. This past episode was, in my humble opinion, back to season one greatness.

Fantastic. I cannot wait for next week.

You know, I really don't know why, but I really thought that I'd be happy with this year's nominations. I was so wrong though. No Mary McDonnell for Outstanding Lead Actress, which is bullshit. She's so fantastic in that role. Still, it's a Sci Fi series (that isn't Lost), so I knew it was a long shot. But why oh why was Friday Night LIghts completely ignored AGAIN!? Specifically, the amazing work of Connie Britton. She should have won that Emmy last year (and the show should have won the Emmy too--it truly was the perfect season of television), but not even a nomination? It's so hard to take these seriously when clearly it's just the same old standbys that keep getting all the recognition.

I am happy for Lee Pace and Kristin Chenoweth for their noms (Pushing Daisies as a series should have gotten a nom too...), and go 30 Rock--I have the feeling that they're gonna do a pretty clean sweep this year. And you know, it was a damn funny show this past season, so they deserve it.

I'm still upset though.
thatgirlteresa: (FNL)
I am so, so, so, so, so very, very, very happy. Why? Simple:

NBC picked up Friday Night Lights!

There's some sort of deal with DirecTV or something. I dunno. I'm just so very squee right now.

The only things I really liked were Landry and Saracen's little chat. I miss those two hanging out like "Woah." I also loved when that coach told Smash that he'd had his eye on him for 6 years. The whole Jason thing was super meh, and so it Lyla and Tim and her Chrisian boyfriend. Such a shame this is apparently the last episode of the season (damn strike!) and it would be an even hyoooger shame if it's the last episode of the show ever.

I miss the football on the show so much. It really was the thread that held the stories together and reminded you why you knew and loved all of these different characters.
thatgirlteresa: (FNL)
Oh man. This fucking show...

This was, hands down, the best episode of season 2. It really felt like season 1. It's about time Saracen actually voiced his abandonment issues. And the final scene at the end with Smash just about killed. I'm still wiping away tears. Fantastic!

I can't believe I nearly forgot how cute Zach Gilford is.

I love you, Matt Saracen!

A while back, I took a break from Friday Night Lights. Not for any real reason, mind you. It was mostly a product of either beginning to work Friday at 8pm CST or getting off of work Friday at 8pm CST. In both cases, it's difficult to sit down and watch the show in the 8pm timeslot, and unfortunately, that slot belongs to FNL. Being a Tivo-less individual, I faithfully taped it for several weeks or caught the episodes online. Then the writers' strike happened and I lost any will to watch anything online. One week I forgot to put in my tape before going to work. When I got home, I discovered my egregious error and was rather disappointed. I couldn't watch it online and I didn't have the tape. What's worse is that it isn't the type of show where missing an episode is okay. Sure I could have jumped back in and got the storylines just fine, but I sould have missed a lot of character development. That's what I love about this show. Each episode offers so much insight into whatever characters are featured. It's lovely.

So I kind of quit watching it. It was easy (which is sad) because I was occupying myself with other television shows--namely Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Life on Mars. I seem to have developed quite the affinity for BBC programs.

Anyway, I downloaded episode 8 of season two in the effort to catch up. Some things were a little fuzzy, but by god! It felt so right to be watching this show again. I love you Coach! and Mrs. Coach! Even the parts of the show I wasn't enjoying (namely Saracen and CarLOWtta and the Landry storyline of DOOOOM) didn't bother me too much, which is probably just because I missed the show so much.

I'm in the process of downloading episode 9 right now and expect to whiz through the subsequent episodes in the next couple of days.

If I am totally, completely, 100% pro-union and am firmly on the side of the writers, does that mean I shouldn't watch this week's Friday Night Lights online? But I missed it (again! grr) and I must watch it. Does this mean that I am ethically in the clear to pirate it?

1. Sorry Julie. You fail. You weren't dumped. You were the dumpee. I know it still hurts and you're allowed to cry. But don't claim that you were dumped. You should have thought of that while you were making out with the greasy Swede.

2. Poor Tim having to deal with his stupid brother. I have read spoilers and do know where this is going. All I can say is "Hee!"

3. Tyra rocks. Tyra and Lyla interaction is great.

4. "Don't you whisper yell at me!" *giggles*

5. Ooh, Smash. You better listen to Mama Smash!
    5a. Yay! Mama Smash!
5b. Loved the Mama Smash/Smash hug.
5c. Loved Mama Smash going to talk to Coach.

6. God help me, I'm actually starting to like CarLOWtta and am sort of buying the romantical tension between her and Matt. Still not a good idea to explore that relationship though. Are you hearing me writers? Even through the picket line?

7. Lauren=major downgrade. From both Julie AND CarLOWtta.

8. Grandma Saracen in her panther ears is just too damn precious.

9. What is with this show and it's obsession with slightly to completely inappropriate relationships between teens and adults?

10. I love Eric and Tami Taylor!
thatgirlteresa: (FNL)
I loved pretty much everything about this episode. Not a fan of the murder plotline, yet it didn't grate me so much. Was still bored with the Mexico story, but did love how much Riggins clearly loves Street. I hated the entire crowd chanting Landry, but loved that coach refuses to call him anything but Lance. AND YAY! Plenty of football, and almost enough Smash to make me gleeful!

This is a solid A- show, writers. Keep it up!
thatgirlteresa: (Jim)
Yawn. An okayish episode. MOAR FOOTBALL!

I am already sick of the Jason/Mexico/surgery deal.

I am loving Landry's family.

I love that Tami finally got through to Julie. Still not a huge Julie fan, but I wasn't exactly a treat at her age either.

*Hearts* Coach Taylor: Family Man. I'm betting that Coach MacGregor will see Coach Taylor again around the time of state.

I like the Lyla and the Hoodlum story. Seems she's actually practicing what she preaches. You gotta respect that.

But mostly, this was an incredibly boring episode.
thatgirlteresa: (FNL)
Never was a slap so deserved. I definitely would have gotten smacked if I told my mom to "Go to hell."

Julie-- you think Tami got rid of you when Grace was born and Eric went away? Wrongso! You abandoned your mother, who is clearly overwhelmed. It doesn't take much to see how in over her head your mother is. Stupid bitch. It just takes a little less self-absorption and compassion. You used to have it, Julie. Bah.

MOAR SMASH PLZ!
thatgirlteresa: (FNL)
"I think your baby is crying." YOUR BABY!?! Oh man. That Julie-smack cannot come fast enough.
